HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal Visits Safawi Accompanied by NAMC CEO
September 16, 2025
Amman, Jordan – On Thursday, September 18, 2025, a series of high-level meetings were held in the Jordanian capital with a distinguished delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan. The meetings came as a direct follow-up to the official visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Uzbekistan last month.
The discussions focused on enhancing scientific and practical cooperation in the mining and mineral resources sector. The National Mining Company and the Jordanian Uranium Mining Company explored potential collaboration with Uzbekistan’s leading corporations, Navoigold and Navoiuran, both ranked among the world’s top five mining companies. The talks covered several areas, most notably the Ghor Fifa Copper Project and the extraction of rare earth elements.
It is worth noting that the National Mining Company had previously signed a strategic partnership with the global company UZBASALT to establish a basalt fibre production plant in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone. The project has already entered the stage of economic and banking feasibility studies in cooperation with the German company LIPEX, following the allocation of land for the project and the securing of natural gas supplies for the plant.
The visit of the Uzbek delegation also serves as a prelude to the upcoming official visit of His Excellency President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan to Jordan, expected in October.
Representing the National Mining Company at the meetings were H.E. Haj Hamdi Tabbaa, H.E. Ayman Hatahet, Dr Majed Al-Saadi, and CEO Eng. Ayman Ayyash, as well as Dr Mohammad Al-Shannaq, Director General of the Jordanian Uranium Mining Company, along with senior members of the company’s executive management.
