Economic Modernisation Vision Continues: Comprehensive Plan for Mining Development and Investment
September 2, 2025
On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources H.E. Dr Saleh Al-Kharabsheh conducted a field visit to the National Arab Mining Company (NAMC) site in Ghor Fifa, accompanied by an official delegation, to follow up on the progress of mineral exploration and prospecting activities.
During the visit, the minister reviewed the achievements delivered under the work programme signed between the ministry and NAMC on January 20, 2025. The programme, valued at one million Jordanian dinars, covers an area of 28 square kilometres and extends until January 20, 2026.
The programme has so far included exploration campaigns, rock sampling, and advanced geochemical analyses, which yielded promising results, particularly in copper and manganese. In addition, NAMC has launched its exploratory drilling plan and completed supportive statistical analyses. To date, approximately 37% of the programme has been completed.
Dr Al-Kharabsheh praised the quality of work on-site and the positive results achieved, emphasising that the company’s efforts reflect a strong commitment to global best practices in the mining sector. He also reviewed the status of memoranda of understanding and agreements in the sector, which currently include seven MoUs—one in its final stage—alongside one executive agreement for copper in the Abu Khushaiba area, two pending agreements, and three under negotiation.
The minister stressed that Jordan holds significant investment opportunities in copper, gold, zinc, and lead, as well as in rare earth elements and niobium, in addition to potash, lithium, basalt, and silica projects. He noted that this diversity represents a key pillar for supporting the national economy.
H.E. Dr Al-Kharabsheh was welcomed by NAMC Chairman H.E. Haj Hamdi Tabbaa and CEO Eng. Ayman Ayyash, along with technical and advisory teams from Mibexperts and Mesbar Drilling.
